General Surgery
A hernia (rupture) is usually noticed as a lump that appears when tissue breaks through a weakened area of the abdominal wall. General surgery on the abdominal wall is the only solution to a hernia.

For hernia surgery to be effective and long lasting it must be ‘tension free’. Pulling the ruptured part of the abdomen wall tightly together with stitches is likely to lead to a rapid recurrence of the hernia. At Dahab Specialized Hospital, general surgery for hernias involves bridging the gap between the edges of the rupture with a plastic mesh. This is strong, flexible, and permanent and does not cause any adverse reaction in the body. This technique can be used to provide a long lasting and durable repair to all types of hernias.

Inguinal Hernia
The commonest type of hernia, occurring predominantly in men and either confined to one side of the abdomen wall or present on both (bilateral).

Femoral Hernia
Typically occurring in more women than men, the femoral hernia is usually smaller and slightly lower down in the body than an inguinal hernia.

Incisional Hernia
Whenever a cut is made into the abdominal cavity the resulting wound, even when fully healed, may not to be as strong as the original abdominal wall. If the muscle gives way then an incisional hernia develops.
